Artist Statement:
“Bitcoin for Humanity has been a quest of mine, now shared by so many in this tumultuous time of transformation and collapse. As an artist I use reality as my subject matter and art is my form of communication to speak out about what I feel is important and worthwhile, offering the conscious objector a shield against the nightly barrage of Orwellian Newspeak, language based on greed and violence. Open your eyes and see through the lies of big government, superficial pop-culture trends, the corporate run war machine and their mainstream media puppets who have been manipulating, controlling and dividing us for their own profit. We are fighting a spiritual battle to free humanity from the psychopathocracy that is obfuscating the truth and obstructing our path towards liberation, our connection to nature and the whole sentient planet. We are not separate. Everything is connected. There is a Native American belief which describes how the actions you choose today should be weighed out in terms of their consequences over the next 7 generations, with a view to a higher order of sustainability and responsibility. Karma, cause and effect, whatever you call it, these reactions we kinetically and psychically create between our energetic bodies and minds replicate throughout reality affecting everything. It is in the formation of community and community values predicated upon Bitcoin that a better future for humanity resides. It is a pleasure to be able to bring this original 2014 ‘Freedom for Humanity’ silkscreen design of mine to life through the icon of our movement. ‘PEPE'S REVOLT’ reminds us that the we are all Pepe and there is a freedom fighter in us all. About the Artist:
MEAR ONE has been at the forefront of LA’s graffiti and mural culture for nearly three decades. He is famous for having pioneered the Melrose graffiti art movement in the late 80s and is considered by many to be LA’s most prolific public muralist. Early on in his career, MEAR gained his recognition for building the bridge between graffiti art and fine art. He was the first graffiti artist to exhibit at the infamous 01 Gallery on Melrose, as well as at 33 1/3 Gallery in Silverlake, where Banksy would later debut his first North American show. MEAR ONE’s work was part of the landmark "Art in the Streets" 2011 exhibit at the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art as well as the Pasadena Museum’s “Street Cred” exhibition that same year. His works reside in the permanent collection of the Laguna Museum of Fine Arts, The Chambers Project, as well as many other prominent private collections. He is perhaps best known for constructing powerful narratives juxtaposing philosophy, ancient mythology and modern politics to inspire an evolved consciousness. This interpretation of reality is achieved through balanced dialogue between surrealism and the metaphysical. MEAR ONE helps us envision the sublime spirit of our time – not by escaping reality, but by confronting it head on.
