In the history of mankind there have been several pivotal points for the progression of civilization. During these moments there is the possibility of significant civilizational regression, by ignoring learnings we accumulated over time. The Roman Empire, with all its accumulated learnings and progression, reached its greatest extent under the reign of emperor Trajan. Trajan’s Column was built to commemorate his victory in the Dacian Wars and was crowned with a statue of Trajan holding the globe on top, presenting the knowledge of a round earth. The statue of Trajan was later removed and lost, along with the basic knowledge of a round earth. Even though this fact was not entirely forgotten, as there were also scholars that carried on this knowledge, it signifies the loss of accumulated learnings and thus regression, as the descent into the Dark Ages has shown.

During the time of lesser emperors Rome would produce more coins to facilitate certain extravagant lifestyle choices. In these choices the Roman emperors also ignored the importance of sound money principles and illustrated once more significant civilizational regression.

One might see Bitcoin as one of these pivotal points for the progression of civilization. To this extend it is depicted onto Trajan’s globe, therefore stating that the sound money principles which Bitcoin is based upon will soon be basic knowledge for all to see. However, may Trajan’s Demise also serve as a warning to the consequences of disregarding the importance of sound money principles.
